Portrait of a Lady - Nicole White, Sales and Event Coordinator, Ramada Galena
Where are you from?
I am originally from Platteville, Wisconsin. I just recently bought my first home in Kieler, WI shortly after I accepted the position at the Ramada.
What did you do before?
I worked for Woodward Communications. I toured a few different departments and locations. I found that I liked planning events and coordinating functions the best.
What brought you to your current position?
I was laid off from Woodward Communications during a mass lay-off. I applied for the “event coordinator” position for the Ramada. I found my niche in weddings. I love what I do,
and I love being able to see the return for all of the hard work leading up to the wedding day.
What has been the most interesting aspect of your work? I love meeting all kinds of people. You get your off-the-wall types and your traditionalists. Everyone is individual and I remember all of them. I get to see them at their best and I get to see them when the pressure is on. The world is made up of such unique individuals.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge has been settling in. It is always difficult when a person starts a new job. Getting to know your team and figuring out who works best under different circumstances. My biggest life challenge has been putting myself through college.
Tell me about your family? Any pets?
My significant other is a welder for a company based out of Mineral Point. He and I have two children. They are American Staffordshire Terriers (commonly known as a Pit Bulls) Hank and Nevaeh. We spend a lot of our time working with trainers to disprove people’s beliefs on the breed. They are wonderful, smart, and affectionate animals.
Who are you inspired by?
I gather my inspiration from many people. Mainly, I gather inspiration from my family. I would like to work as hard as my Grandfather Albert, be as smart as my Aunt Jill, be as perceptive as my Aunt Gloria, and as caring as my Aunt Janet. Family means a lot to me and I could go on forever… but I won’t.
Favorite Movie?
No movie can beat Pretty Woman. I am a sap for romance (good thing I plan weddings!!)
What is in your refrigerator?
Milk, eggs, hot sauce, lettuce, carrots, apples, grapes, broccoli, stir fry, chicken, cheese, lunch meat, pickles, pickles, and more pickles… I love chicken and pickles… The hot sauce is all for Tyler.
If you could invite anyone to a dinner party dead or alive, who would you invite? My two best friends from high school (they have since passed), my entire family, and my closest friends.
What is your favorite vacation spot?
If I could find time for a vacation… any place would be just fine J
Your favorite pastime is . . .
Playing/ training my dogs do be productive members of society.
What has been your largest personal challenge?
I struggle with personal image. I feel like I have not “found myself” yet.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of getting my college degrees. I am one of two people in my extended families with bachelor’s degrees.
Are you living your dream?
I am living for the moment. This past year I have been blessed and I am proud of the person I am becoming.
